They've Looked After Me

This page is to express my gratitude for all the help and support I've had so far, even before the trip itself has started.  I trust that it will grow as I progress through the month of March and beyond.

I'm asking for money, in advance, for a trip with an open-ended outcome, mostly from people who don't necessarily have a great deal of money themselves, at a time when money seems tight for everyone.

I've been hugely touched by every response to the call.  I appreciate those who've said "I'm sorry I can't give you money, but I wish you very well on the trip" as much those who've retweeted the link, as well as those who've donated anything between $5 and $200 each.  I'm also indebted to people who've piped up with questions and criticisms of the trip.  That's helped me understand better what I'm doing and explain it better where I can.

I've tried to thank each person who tweeted about this, individually, but I may have slipped up occasionally - if I've missed you out, please know that it's only the craziness of the process I've been through in the last few weeks and this page is an attempt to make up for any omissions.

Thank you everybody, I could not be doing this without all of you.

I've been supplied with a Nokia N8 and 3G Booklet - thanks to the hard work of Donna, Lauren and Riccardo at 1000heads.

I'd like to thank Brian Condon, Thias Martin and Neil Gregory (Complexity Partners) for my residency at C4CC where the initial plot for this journey was hatched.  I'm also grateful to all of my fellow residents at the Centre and my supportive friends in the Tuttle Club who've helped me develop the idea through long conversations - as usual Francesca Elston, Patrick Hadfield and Al Robertson have been particularly helpful in challenging and broadening my thinking and encouraging me to continue when things looked grim.

I'd also like to thank my band of regular (and not so regular) micropatrons who've supported me over the last few months while I was putting flesh on the idea.

Indiegogo allows people to remain anonymous or to keep the amount of their donation anonymous.  Here though are the people who have made their names known, in the order in which they donated together with others who've donated via other routes.

Rose Kue, Dan Thompson, Paul Clarke, Bryan Person, Karina Brisby, Bill Thompson, Kat Miller, Adam Tinworth, Andy Piper, Sam Sethi, Kai Rudat, Jonathan Hopkins, Barb Gibson, Antony Mayfield, Sue Thomas, Henry Playfoot, Mat Morrison, Terence Eden, Amanda Hone, Will Rowan, Dominic Tinley, Xander Cansell, Jason Bates, Sylwia Presley, Stephen Dale, Rob O'Callaghan, Jason Jarrett, Dave Gray, Tim Hardy.

My parents, Sue and Tony, have given me money to cover the cost of an Amtrak rail pass as a sort of insurance against me getting totally stuck.  In return I'll be carrying out a photographic project while I'm away, but more of that later.

I have also received a cash donation from Pavegen Systems in return for some "on the road" evangelism about their product (which I'm used to doing for free when I show people around C4CC!)

Learning Pool Ltd have also given me a t-shirt and some promotional material for mylearningpool.

I shall be sending postcards home as I go thanks to Touchnote
